Jail and Bail

Bail Information

In Washington, a person is deemed to be eligible for "personal recognizance"(no bail) release unless the Court finds that the person is either 1) a threat to the community; or 2) will not likely appear in Court for their next hearing. Many factors go into making this determination. If the Court finds that the person is not a danger to the community and is likely to appear voluntarily for future Court appearances, the Court may release the person on personal recognizance or impose a very low bail. Arguments supporting (PR) or a reduction of bond can be made at the time of Arraignment or at a Bond Hearing set after the Arraignment by defense counsel.

If a bail bond is ordered, it is likely that the services of a Bail Bonding Company will be needed. Many bail bondsmen cover all of Western Washington or even other states. In King and Snohomish Counties, you can contact Lacey OMalley Bail Bonds, All City Bail Bonds, or Bail Anytime Bonding. Bonding agents are usually available 24 hours a day. Their websites also provide background information about bail bond laws and procedures that may be useful to you.

Jail Information

BailBefore we had the internet, it was almost impossible to get information about someone in a large county jail without simply going down to the jail in person. Phone calls to the jail result in endless busy signals. It may be that you are not sure which jail a person is being held in, what they are charged with, what their bail is, or what visiting hours are.

If you go to http://www1.co.snohomish.wa.us/Departments/Corrections/, you can access the daily jail registers of King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties from the same website. These alphabetical registers will tell you which facility a person is being held in, what the charges are, what bond is set at, their visiting days, and other useful information. This information is updated daily. These sites also provide jail locations and visiting hours.

There is no similar website for the Island County Jail. Call them at 360-678-5111 or 360-321-5111 ext 7324, for inmate status and visitation information.
