Superior Court

Island County includes both Whidbey and Camano Islands, situated just south and east of the Straits of Juan de Fuca in Puget Sound. The county seat is in Coupeville, Washington which is Whidbey Island, the larger of the two islands composing the county.

The Island County Superior Court is located in the Law and Justice Building, 101 NE 6th Street, Coupeville, Washington, 98239. The Superior Court has two departments with two elected judges hearing criminal, civil, and juvenile cases.

Island County District Court

Island County District Court handles all misdemeanor cases filed in Island County. There is one elected judge and an appointed Court Commissioner hearing all criminal and traffic cases. The Courthouse is located at 800 SE 8th Avenue in Oak Harbor, Washington, 98277.

Oak Harbor Municipal Court

The City of Oak Harbor operates it's own Municipal Division within the Island County District Court by contract. That means that all misdemeanors and traffic matters that occur within the city limits of Oak Harbor are filed into Island County District Court and are heard by the same judges. However, the Municipal Court has a separate City Prosecutor and Public Defender for cases filed by the city.
